So, Where Did You Go To School?
Not too long after we moved back to STL, DP and I were at a parent social organized by the school parent-teacher committee. While we were there, DP asked someone where they went to school. He meant, where did you go to college. The answer he got? South. He was confused.
I'd forgotten to warn him about the most common STL question. "where'd you go to school" means where'd you go to high school.
Turns out a Professor at SIUE is researching whether that question is giving STL a bad reputation to transplants to the area. The scope of the research, which is funded by a grant from the Urban Institute, looks at the experiences of transplants to the area.
To read a bit more about the research, go here.
