Soccer Saturday

Today the Chargers took on the Annunciation Tigers in the fourth soccer game of the year.

As the season has progressed, there has been a running conversation among the Charger parents about the competition.  It goes something like this.  "Wow.  These Catholic schools take their soccer very seriously."  Or as a friend put it, "Lutherans and Catholics see soccer differently."  Yep.  CCLS participates in the Catholic Youth Council league for the soccer season.  And, we've been beat up on (badly) on every game.

But, the kids are having fun, and I hope, are learning about what good sportsmanship means.  Even if (when) Christian's team gets trounced, if someone on his team scores, that goal is the highlight of the game, and that is what they seem to remember.  And, the boys are really happy for the teammate that scored.  Today, Graham scored the Charger's only goal of the game, right at the last second.

Christian warms up.

The teams have a prayer before the game began.

 Christian kicks the ball.

Connor wasn't interested in the game.  He was only interested in the playground.

 Go Graham!

All in all, it was a perfect fall day to be cheering on our favorite team.  Most importantly, the kids had fun.

Now, off to practice a little soccer in the backyard...
